In 1976, Bill Lyden and Chuck Woodward joined forces, combining their last names to create Lywood. After a year, Chuck pursued other ventures, leaving Bill to continue building Lywood. In 1985, they purchased their first property, a former Delmarva Power building that remains Lywood's home at 301 Bloomingdale Ave., Federalsburg, MD, and now houses the Automation division.
Lywood's foundation was built on relationships – with farmers, residents, and eventually, businesses of all sizes. Their family-oriented approach fueled word-of-mouth growth for over 30 years. In 2018, tragedy struck with Bill Lyden's passing. Taking the helm, Noah Lyden honored his father's legacy. Noah's leadership secured Lywood the 2020 Business of the Year award, and he spearheaded the construction of their second and largest location at 102 Frank Adams Industrial Way, Federalsburg, MD. Determined for excellence, Noah pursued further growth. In 2022, the opportunity arose to acquire Tieder Controls. Seizing it, Lywood welcomed Tieder's employees, forming the new Lywood Automation division. This strategic move expanded Lywood overnight.
Today, Lywood continues its journey of excellence, poised for even greater things.
